Abstract

This article deals with economic-social analysis of the recuperation of the ecosystem involved in the Lago de Texcoco project. The project is located at the eastern part of the Mexico Valley, in an area of 2000 km2, approximately, and its operation is in charge of the Comisión del Lago de Texcoco. The method used was that proposed by Dasgupta et al. (1972). Results indicate that the project is socially profitable, considering its impact on the society. The limited flexibility of the project regarding the changes in cost-benefit structure, permits to suggest a major increase in its budget and to continue it for a long term.
