Abstract

The current study was made in the University of Chapingo Experimental Station in order to evaluate two different corn (Zea mays L.) seeders, varying the gear combination, the ground speed and the amount of grain in the box. The evaluated variables were: seed depth, seed distance, seed rate, fertilizing rate and mechanical damage of seed; additional information was taken about the easiness of operation and draft requirements. Results allowed to obtain suitable adjustments of the John Deere seeder for achieving a satisfactory planting in dryland conditions.
