This paper describes the use of climatological information (weekly precipitation and temperature) to forecast the most appropriate time for harvesting sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.), on the basis of a computational program written in SAS IML. The method is illustrated with data of 38 years in the supplying zone of the sugar cane mills ManteXicoténcatl in Tamaulipas. The most appropiate harvesting times, for periods ranging from 16 to 36 weeks were predicted by the proposed model.Downloads
